Avoid Certain Foods To Avoid Problems

If you suffer from heartburn, here is some good news for you. By avoiding heartburn foods, you can avoid the symptoms of heartburn. This list of foods to avoid may also help you to avoid heartburn.

The list of foods that are triggers differ for every person, however the following list contains many of the foods that are common to different people. Be sure that you add any additional foods that you know as triggers for you.

Sometimes meats can be a problem. Among the meats, the most common trigger foods include chicken nuggets, ground beef, Buffalo wings and sirloin that is marbled. The thing you may notice these meats have in common is that they are higher in fat or spicy and high in fat.

You should also avoid foods which are high in sugar, oils and fats. Chocolate contains all of these ingredients for a really bad heartburn attack. Corn and potato chips, while not necessarily high in sugar, are high in fats. High fat butter cookies can cause heartburn as can brownies and doughnuts. Even salad dressings, especially those high in fat or fat and vinegar may trigger an attack of heartburn. In fact almost any fatty or fried food can trigger heartburn.

Some heartburn is set off by juices, fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits and drinks made from them are highly acidic and can cause a major case of heartburn. They include orange, lemon, grapefruit, cranberry or tomato. Potatoes which have been produced with extra fat, such as french fries or mashed potatoes should also be avoided. Raw onion is also a trigger for many people. One of the worst combination foods for heartburn sufferers is potato salad. This is a combination of fat from the mayonnaise, starch from the potato, and onion.

Beverages that are high in acid concentration or alcohol should be avoided. Coffee and tea are highly acidic and can cause heartburn. Alcohol can relax the muscles, including the flap at the base of the esophagus which allows acid reflux. Wine combines the relaxing with acid.

Pasta can also be a trigger for some people. The most offending types of pasta are macaroni and cheese and spaghetti served with marinara sauce.

Among the dairy foods to avoid are cottage cheese, milk shakes or ice cream and sour cream.

If you can find the trigger foods that are the worst for you, you may be able to eat some of the foods on this list without having problems with heartburn. Avoiding heartburn can avoid other health problems as you prevent acid reflux from damaging the esophagus. - 32390
